Always Endure began several years before our first benefit 5k run.
I (Corey) prayed on the way home from Wednesday night Bible study that if anyone in my family would get cancer, God would give it to me. I asked the Lord to cover the financial burden if He answered this prayer and use the journey for His glory.
God is faithful and on May 17, 2013, I was diagnosed with stage 2a Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. My treatment got progressively harder but Brittany was there with me every step of the way, even sacrificing her nursing school class to be my caretaker.
By God’s grace, I (Corey) was in remission at the end of October 2013, completely debt free from chemotherapy and radiation.
Throughout those months of treatment, the Lord had given me a mantra or slogan, especially on the tough days:
A L W A Y S E N D U R E.
And after all we had gone through, we desired to support others who were journeying through a similar path so we hosted our first 5k race event in 2015.
As our event grew and we raised more funds we decided to become a nonprofit in 2017. To date we have gifted over $40,000 for families in need who are dealing with a cancer diagnosis…to God be the Glory!
